We can't believe it. President Trump is taking risks for a big reset in the US-DPRK relationship. He might fail, but these are big risks for a big change. And the change brings hope to an issue long frozen into an ever escalating cycle of sanctions, weapons testing and war rhetoric.
Here's one wacky idea for the Summit. President Trump can offer a Peace Treaty or a short roadmap to one. President Moon Jae In flies into Singapore on June 13 to meet with Chairman Kim Jong Un at Lee Kuan Yew's old house at Oxley Road to declare an end to the Korean War (the actual peace treaty probably will have to be signed at Panmunjon).
Why Lee Kuan Yew's house? Chairman Kim can tie his legacy to his people as one of economic development and prosperity, just as Lee Kuan Yew unabashedly did for Singapore. For President Moon, the humble abode as a setting will suit his personal style. And for Lee Kuan Yew, his legacy and focus on Singapore's prosperity can keep giving. He can once again share his vision and legacy with Northeast Asia and commit the parties of the Korean War, the US, China, South and North Korea and Russia, to a new era of peace and prosperity. Singapore is a little Red Dot, but this is a reminder we can offer a lot more to the world with our vision for the future.

*Fun side story. We once brought a DPRK delegation to Singapore which was briefly questioned when they took pictures on Oxley Road area when crossing from a workshop venue to Somerset MRT station. It was a sensitive time. But the Koreans took it with good humor.
